Pib & Pog - Aardman

Looking at the 'Hold' animating techniques used to make the characters move more realistically. 'Holds' are the frames in the animation where the character/s are still. For example if you were to watch someone in motion, there will be split seconds were the person will be completely still.
In 'Pib and Pog' i find that the holds are very long drawn out. The characters appear very still for may frames, giving the animation this rather simple style. This also adds to the persona of the characters. For example when they stare at something for long amounts of time. Shows they are gormless/distracted/dumb/simple characters.
I like this style of animating, using little movement and holding poses. It aims the piece towards a more mature audience. Its not in your face, meaning that a mature audience will have more patience with this style of animation. This is something i am considering with my current animation piece. As i am aiming for a mature audience, but am still incorporating child like characters. The timing of my animation is very important to how i will be portraying the characters attitudes.
