My Animation


An abstract animation i did for the first module of my Moving Image course. Using Flash. This was inspired by the work of artist Oscar Fishcinger. Using obscure shapes and lines, animated to compliment the movement of the animated visual. It was great to work with this music track (Djengo Reinheart) as it has some very expressionate notes and was a very bouncy sounding. By bouncy i mean the notes are rather sudden (especially when it kicks in) and unpredictable.

Creating this visual was great to work on, giving me a free reign on how to compose the visual. I experimented as widely as i could and am pleased with how i have animated each element. Taking into consideration the movement of each element, and how this can be portrayed realistically.

This piece was one of Oscar Fishcinger's animations that inspired me when working on my abstract animation. He uses a wide variety of shapes, and animates them with a realistic approach.

From this i took on board the use of expression, when composing the shapes and animating them. For example bulky shapes may move differently than smaller nimble shapes. I was inspired by the use of layout, for example the way the shapes are composed in sequence to one another. This piece really helped me open up my perception towards the piece i was composing.
