I downloaded this from a BBC website, 'A guide to picture size.' This was downloaded as a psd. file, which provides me with layers to work with. It advises to replace the testcard (1st layer) with my graphic, using the cut off markers and safe areas (that are indicated) as a guide to position my graphic piece correctly for a 16:9 screen. This is very helpful, and is a reliable source, as it also provides a guide to the layers in Photoshop and how to work with them, to help you position your graphic.
The website also provides guides for other tv formats.
