Herman Nitsch is one scary guy! The best way to describe him is a shock artist. I wont be concentrating on his most gory of pieces, but i want to observe his series of 'Splatter' paintings'. Created using oil and acrylic on canvas.
These are very interesting to look at, as i am inspired by how they have been created and what drove these obscure paintings to look how they do. They are very thought provoking, as you see what you want to see in the piece.
These remind me of the exercise we did in the beginning of the year. Natually letting the ink run on the surface, and observing the lines that were expressed. I like to question the body of these pieces, and how they make you feel when observing them.
Montano: Does the intensity of the taboo associated with blood and those issues frighten you?
Nitsch: It frightens and fascinates me at once.

These red spatters remind me of the blood spatter sheets in dexter they look great
