Simons Cat

Created by Simon Tofield in 2008. (one of four episodes) found on www.tandemfilms.com
'Simons cat' has a simple approach to it, looking and sounding rather minimal. An animation that relies on the timing of the characters to deliver the humour, which helps give the piece its origional style and charm.

I think what attracted me to this animation is the simplicity and flatness of it: No color, minimal detail and a plain, spacious setting. Also the unusual timing of the characters, as they move and communicate, adding to the tension and fustration of the scene.

This reminds me of the Don Hertzfeldt animations, where there is the same use of extended silences, and the same visual approach.
Very fun to watch!
