Anulf Rainer
Anulf Rainer is an artist i have recently discovered, and have become very fond of his unique style. His work evolves around the use of expressionate line making, and varies in many ways. I love the way he uses a variety of different medias in his work, making his work flexable and more orgional. Rainer also experiments with textures, you can see this particulatly through how generously he has applied the paint onto the surface.
When looking at these pieces, i observe the way in which the lines have been created. For example, do the lines appear aggressive or gentle? Are they forcefully placed or softly placed on the surface? I like to imagine how these lines were created, and picture the moment as they were applied. What emotions was the artist feeling when he/she made these marks? What were they thinking at the time?
