Computer Arts Magazine, CD. 2009

I bought this magazine recently titled "Computer Arts." It includes many new and upcoming artists and their recent work. The artists/designers use the same computer programmes as we do on our multimedia course, and its great to see how flexible they can work with them.

In this magazine package, there was a small pull out magazine titled 'Graduate Showcase 2009, this year's best new design talent.' It gives an insight into the most interesting pieces from this years graduates, judged by 5 of the industry's top creatives.

This magazine displays award winning pieces from the fields of graphic design, illustration and 2D, web and interactive media, animation, video and broadcast. This particular video is from the animation article.

This piece, titled 'She farted, and created the world' created by Scott Coello. A student from Bath Spa University. A BA (Hons) Graphics communication graduate.

This is one of the most expressionate pieces i found, and the one i found the most visually exciting. The direction of each scene flows smoothly, which adds to the idea of coming to life on paper. I personally think that this piece gives the viewer the impression that they are glancing across the paper background with your eyes. Its smooth flowing nature guides you through the piece at an ease.

The soundtrack in this is very epic! (Reminds me of some sort of Pink Floyd track!) The music composition adds a certain style to the animation, helping to express the visuals. Sounds very strange but... watch when the dog farts! The soundtrack helps to emphasize and perhaps symbolize the explosion. Everything works with the structure of the soundtrack. The soundtrack is an important element, which plays the role in complimenting and guiding the animation.

Im very fond of the origional ideas and techniques used to illustrate the piece. For example: how Coello has included the text from the paper in his illustrations. Emphasizing the idea of his use of paper as the basis of his design.
