cadbury flake ad 2010
Theres an interesting connection being made in this advert - expressing the delicate texture of the chocolate through the material and movement of the dress. When i first saw this advert i was immediately interested but confused about what it was advertising. When the product was eventually revealed at the climax of the piece i was stunned, as it was unexpected that a chocolate product can be advertised in this way. This is a strong way of attracting attention, particularly with the surprising reveal of what the advert is based on.
It has definitely done a good job of sticking in my mind, and made me associate the 'Flake' with this mature nature of the advert.
In my research i am debating using the colour palette of the Green And Blacks identity in my piece. The Flake being yellow and purple - this has been adopted in the advert. When the purple is slowly revealed towards the end of the piece, there is a hint of what it is advertising, and sets you up for the reveal of the product.
"those that actually saw it might have thought they were watching and advert for Dulux paints, but has been the trend of Cadbury’s TV Adverts over recent years – they’ve been getting a bit more surreal!"
