Eraserhead

I would recommend 'Eraserhead' (1977) to anyone who's into surrealist horror films! It's definitely one of David Lynch's best. Here i have cut a segment from the introduction to the film. Here you see the main character 'Henry' making his journey towards a hotel.

The film has a quiet nature, but based in a cold, industrial setting. As you can tell, the faint sounds of industrial patterns in the background, make for an unsettling and rather uncomfortable feel.

I chose this part of the film because of its unusual editing...
Each scene has a long drawn out and patient concept to it. I find it interesting that before and after Henry enters the frame, the scene is edited to show only the setting for a pacific amount of time, before Henry makes an appearance. The audience waits for Henry to enter each scene. The timing of this is aimed to be unpredictable. Resulting in intimidating the viewer, making them nervous and unsettled.

...and because of it's directing.
Each scene is shot from one still position at the start, and are mainly wide shots. As the journey progresses the camera begins to track, following Henry and gradually becomes active in the way of more intimate viewpoints and movement.
