Onedotzero - Shane Walter conference

Went to Manchester to check out the Shane Walter 'Adventurer In Motion' conference on Thursday 10th February. This opportunity was just what i needed to get the wheels turning in my project, and has inspired me in many new directions. Onedotzero - a forward thinking organization who commission, showcase and promote projects the world over.

As part of the conference Shane took us through some installation projects, which i found very inspiring, and was something i cant stop thinking about. The idea of creating installations all over the world and bringing communities together to celebrate it is a wonderful thing. One of my favorites has to be the 'Triptych' installation.

"Three brooding presences that respond to the movements of people approaching them, creating a visceral experience of sound and light."

This idea of people interacting with the installation reminded me of an idea i had at the beginning of my project, (a subject dancing and effecting the atmosphere surrounding them.) This piece has made me reflect on this idea and dig up certain parts that i can involve in my new direction for my piece.

I'm now working on developing an idea that uses my animations in a way that appears to be manipulated by a subject. These movements will reflect the emotions i am focusing on, and work accordingly with the three chosen stages (anguish, lethality, enlightenment).

Experiences like this make me reflect on my ideas and inspire new direction and i'm now on the way to defining my idea to a full potential. In a way that makes it more professional and understandable. So after 4 weeks of searching, discovering and learning i have come up with a solid idea that i am confident with.
As Shane Walter said "Enjoy the journey! Its about the journey not the destination."
